Luk Fook Holdings (International) Limited (“Luk Fook” / the “Group”) (Stock Code: 590), the leading gold and jewellery retailer in Hong Kong, proudly announced that the Group has won the “Emerging Service Award” of the “Hong Kong Top Services Brand Award” by The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Brand Development Council, demonstrating the Group's outstanding position in the market.
The Chief Executive of the Group Mr. Wong Wai Sheung said, “As the only jewellery brand being shortlisted in the award, Luk Fook Jewellery stands out from its counterparts. We are excellent from services to business operation, recognized not only by customers but also our industry counterparts.”
The “Hong Kong Top Service Brand Award” aims to recognize distinguished brands of Hong Kong companies, and to encourage Hong Kong enterprises which strive for excellence in order to enhance their products and services' publicity, strengthening the awareness of Hong Kong brands from the public, overseas enterprises, and consumers. One of the awards is the “Emerging Service Award”, which encourages young brands to be eager for continuous improvement.
In this competition, all participating brands must be either registered and established in Hong Kong, or have tight connection with Hong Kong. The competition applied the same judging standards and procedures to all the applicants regardless of their industries. In the competition, the participants competed on six areas including brand awareness, operating uniqueness, innovation, quality, image, and environmental friendliness. The competition had two rounds, of which the final round consisted of judges' interviews and public polls. There were 14 professional judges, including the Commissioner for Innovation and Technology of the HKSAR, Mr. Anthony S. K. Wong, and Chairman of Hong Kong Tourism Board, Mrs. Selina Chow. For the public polls, votes were collected in “Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo” and via Internet.
The Group's management executives attended the award presentation ceremony at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre held on 24 January 2006, with the Financial Secretary, Mr. Henry Tang Ying-yen as the guest of honor.

Luk Fook is principally engaged in the sourcing, designing and retailing of a variety of gold jewellery, gold ornaments, gem-set jewellery, gemstones and other accessory items. As at the announcement date, the Group has 29 retail outlets under the brand name of Luk Fook, and 2 under the brand name of Ice g., in Hong Kong, Macau, the PRC and Canada. The number of licensee shops of the Luk Fook brand has increased to over 180 in PRC. With the Group's excellent business achievements, for the year ended 31 March 2005, the Group's turnover was approximately HK$2000 million, increased by 22.8% comparing to the previous year.
