INNOVATIVE DESIGN, FINEST CRAFTSMANSHIP
(Hong Kong, 8 March 2006) ------ Luk Fook Holdings (International) Limited (“Luk Fook” / the “Group”) (Stock Code: 0590), the leading gold and jewellery retailer in Hong Kong, proudly announces that the Group obtained five awards in the Open Group of “The 7th Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition”, including a “Craftsmanship and Technology Award” and four Merit Awards.
Mr. Wong Wai Sheung, Chief Executive of the Group, said, “Luk Fook never stops improving our design technology and craftsmanship. I am glad to see Luk Fook Jewellery standing out from our competitors and won the ‘Craftsmanship and Technology Award’. Not only Luk Fook’s product designs are customer’s top choices, the Group also gain support and recognition from industry professions, as shown from our numerous awards gained in various jewellery design competitions.”
“The 7th Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition” was jointly organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Hong Kong Jewellers’ & Goldsmiths' Association, the Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association, the Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers' Association and the Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China. The competition aimed to enhance the creativity and design quality of the jewellery industry in Hong Kong, and to promote Hong Kong’s jewellery products to the international market. The products are judged by their creativity and innovation, marketability, and wearability. The design categories, based on their different prices and applications, were divided into 11 categories including Bracelet/ Necklace, Ring, Pendant / Brooch.
Designers competed under two design themes, “Dazzling Hong Kong” and “Capriccioso”, of which the former was derived from the idea of combining vitality and colour to reflect the energetic and glittery facets of Hong Kong; while the latter allowed jewellery designers to bring their imaginations into full play, and to free all the norms and rules of jewellery design with the use of different materials.
Luk Fook’s design, “Victoria Harbour”, won the “Craftsmanship and Technology Award”. Inspired by “A Symphony of Lights” of Victoria Harbour, the product demonstrates how dancing lights of the buildings illuminate Victoria Harbour, signifying the vibrancy and glamorous night vista of Hong Kong. Products obtaining Merit Awards were “Shining Bay” (“Bracelet/Necklace” group), “Mirror Flakes” (“Others” group), “Rain Forest” (Bracelet/Necklace” group) and “Lolita” (“Ring” group). Their unique designs showed Luk Fook’s strong creativity and innovation.
All the awarded pieces are displayed at the “Hong Kong International Jewellery Show 2006”. Being the sponsor of the award recipients, Luk Fook’s booth in the exhibition has been specially decorated by the HKTDC to publicise its sponsorship. After the “Hong Kong International Jewellery Show 2006”, the “Victoria Harbour” will be showcased at the HKTDC “Design Gallery” until the end of March 2006. Moreover, “Victoria Harbour” will be marketed at the "Hong Kong Pavilion" of the “Basel World Watch and Jewellery Show” with photos.
