LUK FOOK HOLDINGS ANNOUNCES
ITS 15TH ANNIVERSARY TODAY
(Hong Kong, 31 August 2006) ------ Luk Fook Holdings (International) Limited (¡§Luk Fook¡¨ / the ¡§Group¡¨) (Stock Code: 0590), the leading gold and jewellery retailer in Hong Kong, proudly announced its 15th Anniversary on 1st September 2006.
Mr. Wong Wai Sheung, Chief Executive of the Group, said, ¡§It¡¦s been 15 years since Luk Fook¡¦s establishment. Thanks to the industry and our customers¡¦ support, we are very happy that Luk Fook has been developing well in the past 15 years and is able to become one of the leading jewellery retailers in Hong Kong. Throughout these years, the Group has put great effort in designing new products and introducing new technology, seeking to provide customers with a wide range of high quality jewelry to cater to different needs. ¡¨
Establishing in 1991, the Group set up its first shop in North Point and proceeded to open other branches in Mongkok, Jordon, Causeway Bay, Wanchai, Kwun Tong, etc. The Group was listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 1997. It registered the trademark of ¡§Luk Fook¡¨ in the PRC in 1998 for the operation of licensee shops. In the same year, the Group started to become the sole sponsor of the jewellery in Miss Hong Kong Pageant. The Group entered the Macau market in 2002 and later opened overseas shops in Canada and the US.
With the constant effort of the management, the Group swiftly became one of the most popular jewellery brands in the Greater China Region. The Group was also selected by Forbes as one of Asia and the Pacific¡¦s 200 best companies. As at 31 March 2006, the turnover of the Group was HK$2,126,297,000 and market capitalization was about HK$ 630 millions.
The Group currently has a total of 32 retail outlets in Hong Kong, Macau, Canada and the PRC under the brand name of Luk Fook, 2 under the brand name of Ice g. in Hong Kong and 1 newly opened branch in the U.S. named ¡§Luvina Jewelers¡¨. The number of licensee shops has also increased to over 210 in the PRC.
